The image I created is named "Element of beauty". The Title and image definition is inner beauty and the elements that equate to inner beauty. Every human is different from the next, how they treat others and themselves, the love they spread, differences they create in life, accomplishments, self standards, and their self believed purpose. All of these characteristics or elements make a person who they, all elements are specific to each person and accumulate his/her unique beauty. The first layer of this picture is a water fall in Africa, I choose this because I love traveling, nature, and experiencing new things. I also love to volunteer and that's what brought me to West Africa. This brings me to my next layer, a circle of fists with different skin tones for each fist. This is at #StepOut club, the students that were there participated in taking this picture, to show the clubs diversity. This is personal to me because I started this club and created a nonprofit due to the experiences in Africa and past experiences in life. The last layer is a sculpture at the Ann Arbor Art museum, it's of a little girl with a deficiency holding a skin mutation. I love art and the different interpretations it creates, but I especially liked this because of the message the artist wanted to share. Of one of the layers is a selfie of myself, normally this is day-to-day attire. All of the images behind my selfie make up who I am and create my inner beauty, these pictures are the elements that give a definition to my physical appearance.
Double Exposure
Artist Statement When composing my double exposure I felt more confident using the tools, using the knowledge from past projects I was able to create more detail and balance between the two photos. When composing my first selfie I struggled to erase all background noise while still keeping the details of my selfie. Another difficulty was blending the images together evenly without creating harsh lines from different layers a top each other. In my double exposure I greatly improved in removing all background noise and making the outline of my body more precise for maximum detail. In For Double Exposure I applied what I learned about blending mode in layers, to blend both images evenly together for one well balanced photograph.
