The first object I photographed was a lavender flower, originally in a bouquet of roses. Unfortunately the roses died quickly but the lavender flowers stayed alive for awhile, giving the first image the title "Alive". Through high school I always had a very close friend who I considered a sister, but junior year things changed all of the sudden my best friend became a stranger. After hearing the news my step father surprised me with this flower bouquet, little did I know this would be the last thing my step dad would give me. I realized that this flower was a symbol of a time in my life when I lost two people very close to me, which is why I untitled the photo "Flower to Remember". When taking the picture the sun was starting to go down, so I had more trouble focusing the image due to the loss of natural light. The camera would wash out the lavender color so capturing the flowers vibrance was a struggle, but going into photoshop I was able to increase the vibrance.
Old soul
Trend
I choose my polaroid camera as an object, because I loved how bright and vibrant the colors are. The first photograph I titled "Old Soul" because polaroid cameras were really popular in the late 1970's and gave people a more transportable camera. The second photograph is titled "Trend" reflecting the boom of popularity in the last year for polaroid cameras. When taking this objects photo I had to consider space and size, because it was larger than my other objects I had a harder time fitting it on the white back round paper. In the back round to neutralize the color I used a stronger vibrance adjustment level.
Olneya
The Proud Rino
I have a deep passion for traveling, so when ever I am traveling I make sure to live in the moment and not waste it searching for souvenirs. Although if I do find a ironwood sculpture I'll always try to get it, mainly because the wood is so beautiful and uncommon. Which brings me to my fist image titled "Olneya" this is the type of tree that was used for carving. When I bought the ironwood rino in Africa the man who owned the shack called it proud rino; He explained how beads are looked at as something to be proud of having due to representation of value in Ghana culture. I struggled to find a good angle for full focus of the object, I found it was easier to move closer in distance to capture the specific details in the object.
Hoco2k15
Plump
The fourth object I photographed was one of my many lipsticks, there's not a significant reason why I chose this one. I don't not normally wear a lot of makeup, but I'm always putting on lipstick to keep my lips moist and plump which is why I titled the second photo "Plump". I remember when I bought this lipstick because it was my freshman year homecoming in 2015, based off that memory I titled the first image "Hoco2k15". Photographing this object I struggled to find clarity and shadow, due to its geometric shape. I found the most successful photos when I was further away from the image, adding higher levels of vibrance and brightness also increased the photographs clarity.
Africa
Tradition
This past summer I traveled to a small village in Ghana, I learned many things about the different tribes in Ghana and traditions shared between them. One of the oldest tradition still used today is the affiliation of a persons wealth with the number of beads they wore, the more beads a tribes member has, tells how important that member is in the tribe. The tribe member wearing the most amount of beads would be the chief, or leader of that tribe. This is why I named the second Image "Tradition", The first was due to the fact that I was in West Africa titling photograph one "Africa". The biggest struggle while taking this objects photograph was trying to capture the entire detail of the bracelet instead of a section. The further away I moved the the less detail I could see in individual beads, but the closer I moved the focus was on a more specific spot than the entire bracelet.
